This book was the biggest help to my retroactive jealousy problems.

This book described me and my experiences perfectly, what I felt, how I thought, how my mind worked, everything. It was such a big help to read this book, and I look forward to what the future has in store for me. I only wish I had found this book sooner. I still have work to do, but I like that. I like that this book encourages my mind to work on getting better, if you will. As I've learned from reading this, the mind does enjoy a challenge. The exercises in this book are great for that. So in that regard I really like that this book leaves me with the keys to continue progressing toward a happier me, that I used to be.
I would recommend this book to, well, probably everyone. Dealing with this problem, never had this problem, married, single, cats or dogs? The reason I say that is reading this book will benefit you in some way. Weather your like me and you needed help like this for a couple months now, or your worried the past talk might pop up unexpectedly and you want to prepare yourself. This book is going to help you. Obviously by reading the title we all know who this book targets, people like me, who have a problem and need help. But I view this book to be a healthy decision, a cleanse if you will, for anyone.
I gave this book 5 stars for a number of reasons.
1. I am exactly the person who needed to read this, and it sure was helpful.
2. It was extremely well written, by that I mean it wasn't boring, it wasn't too short, it covered all the bases but it wasn't too long either, and it didn't run on like this sentence.
3. The author implemented the right amount of humor too, witch caught my attention and made the book easier to read.
4. The author wrote this with his own personal experience of retroactive jealousy in mind. That was a huge help to hear about someone else out there just like me. And not to mention inspiring that you can In fact get better from this.
5. This book leaves you with the right tools to fix the issue. This book doesn't just end, it doesn't just stop. It recommends you try a couple different things after the book. Homework if you will. I personally like that, because not only did I take from the book a great message and new knowledge of myself, I also get to take from this book how to continue to better myself. How to continue to make progress in my relationship.

If your hung up on your partners past, it's causing you problems, hard to take, mixed thoughts or emotions, your not quite yourself, buy this book. Do not wait. The quicker you read this book the better you AND your partner will be. Take my word for it.

Between 1973 and 1989, various Western powers and Libya were entangled in a seemingly never-ending exchange of blows. Supposedly launched in retaliation for one action or the other, this confrontation resulted in a number of high-profile, even though low-scale, clashes between the Libyan Arab Air Force (LAAF), the US Navy and even the French. Meanwhile, almost as a sideshow, the LAAF - quantitatively one of the most potent air forces in North Africa and the Middle East - also saw intensive deployment in Chad. Initially, with sporadic fighting between different parties for the control of N'Djamena, the Chadian capital, this conflict eventually turned into a major war when Libya invaded the country outright. The LAAF deployed not only French-made Mirage but also Soviet-made fighter-bombers of MiG and Sukhoi design, Mil-designed helicopters and even bombers of Tupolev design, to establish her dominance over the extensive battlefield of the Sahara Desert.

Because of the Cold War but also due to confrontation with Libya over a number of other issues, France - a one-time major arms supplier to Libya - and the USA gradually got dragged into the war. Deployments of their troops and intelligence services in Chad, Egypt and the Sudan never resulted in a full-scale war against Libya, but time and again culminated in small-scale aerial operations that proved crucial to developments on the ground, several of which are still a matter of extensive debate.

Detailing not only the aerial operations but the ground war and the geopolitical background of these conflicts, and illustrated with over 100 contemporary photographs, maps and all-new color profiles, this volume provides a unique insight into an otherwise completely forgotten conflict that raged from the skies over the southern Mediterranean to southern Chad and northern Sudan, yet one that not only represented a formative period of the LAAF, but which also prompted a number of crucial modifications and developments in France and the USA.

About the Author
Born in 1970, Tom Cooper is a native of Vienna, Austria. His travels in Europe and the Middle East have enabled him to establish excellent contacts with many informed sources in Iran, whose experiences can be found in his books and articles. An early fascination with military aviation post-World War 2 has narrowed down to an interest in smaller air forces and conflicts, particularly the Arab and the Iranian air force and the Iraq-Iran war, about which his researches date from the late 1980s.

Easy to follow and understand book also shows the different ...

Libyan air wars volume 1, Very well written book covering this part in history from the French in chad to the American navy off the coast of Libyan. Many pictures and line drawing help this book along the way. Easy to follow and understand book also shows the different countries that trained the pilots of this air force some of the countries did not do a good job according to the Libyan air force which the book tales about. Can’t wait for the next addition to arrive if like this volume well worth the wait. Still waiting for next volume

Needs an English editor

I enjoy the subject matter of this book and the information gathered and presented within it is excellent. However, similar to Tom Cooper's other titles, the composition and grammar is really lacking. If it wasn't for my interest in the subject, I would have put it down almost immediately. That's exactly what happened when I handed the book to my wife, who is a professional writer, and asked her to critique the first two paragraphs of the first chapter. She couldn't get past the first paragraph. I understand Mr. Cooper is Austrian, so, if I had to guess, English is not his primary language. I think it would be highly beneficial for him to hire a good editor that can improve and finesse the composition and presentation of his writing and make it more readable.

Leonardo Sciascia (1921-1989) was born in Racamulto, Sicily. Short and evocative

It appeals to the tourist to Sicily, with it's pleasing references to prickly pears and Palermo. So it doesn't seem dated because Sicily itself is enticingly dated. It feeds in well to stereotypes of Sicily, which a tourist doesn't see but because of these very stereotypes one almost hopes that there is this undercurrent going on.
One wonders, are these languishing unfinished buildings and highways to nowhere something to do with corruption?
This novel is really a novella, and although the author gives an amusing explanation of it's brevity ( that he spent a year shortening it), I felt that I was short changed. Reading it as an e book meant that I had not foreseen it's skimpiness.
The ending was well done and managed to be satisfyingly unsatisfactory.

First and best mafia novel

Arguably the first mafia novel "The Day of the Owl" examines silence, complicity and the impossible task of freeing people who won't speak out.
The story starts with a murder, a man is gunned down in front of a bus full of passengers in the town square with dozens of witnesses....and no-one saw a thing. Then follows the investigation where a northern police officer attempts to break through the silence with mixed results.
The author was a Sicilian himself and his insights into the mentality of the local people are what make this book a classic. He talks about the local peasants who remember the fascist era with fondness because Mussolini was the only man to break the mafia at least for a while. He portrays a fascinating conversation between elderly mafia gentlemen who philosophise that "the whole world are cuckolds" and consider themselves superior to their peasant neighbours. These little snapshots really made this book for me.
This novel works both as a crime thriller, as anthropology and as high literature.
Highly recommended.

A classic of crime fiction in Italy

The Day of the Owl was Sciascia's first crime novel, originally published in 1961. He wrote about the Italian Mafia before anyone of influence recognized its existence. According to the power elite in this book, the Mafia exists only in the imagination of socialists and communists.

Sciascia's protagonist, police Captain Bellodi is alone is investigating organized crime in Sicily. Being a Northerner from Parma, he has the audacity to suspect the presence of the Mafia behind certain vicious murders. The Sicilians don't know what to make of him; he's so courteous and respectful. His failure to bully, like a normal policeman, confuses people and is actually a surprisingly effective interrogation technique. The reader grows quite fond of Captain Bellodi as he interacts with assassins, a Mafia chief, and an informer.

The writing style is often dazzling. Sciascia's vignettes of sleazy criminals and other key characters are particularly witty. But these sketches don't add up to a plot in the modern sense. I didn't find the story especially satisfying. And we never found out quite enough about Bellodi. I almost think you have to be Italian to fully appreciate The Day of the Owl. Happily, the excellent introduction helps put the book in context.

Readers who enjoy reading about the Mafia are likely to be interested in this book. Readers who like a mystery with some resolution might be disappointed.

Yet another review of this book

I had owned this book before, but gave it to the person who bought my old bus. A friend who is somewhat mechanically inclined but not familiar with air cooled VW's recently bought an old bug, so I got this copy for him. If you are looking for a Haynes, Chilton, or Motor manual, this isn't it. It is more of a novel, possibly a diary about (as the title indicates) keeping VW alive. It can be an entertaining read if you like dry humor, and it doesn't hurt if you can laugh when your projects occasionally dismantle themselves for unknown reasons. I will say it contains a ton of very useful information, some of which you may not find in any other VW manual, but you have to read it closely to glean it. Buy a used copy to save yourself the grease stains you will get on a new one, and save a buck or two. Personally, I believe it is a must read for the first time air-cooled VW owner.

A must have for all aircooled VW owners

John Muir is regarded as the expert in the field as far as aircooled VW's. This book is extremely easy to read. It makes capable mechanics out of "compleat idiot"s with its easy going style.
For a complete collection, buy the VW service manual by Robert Bentley to complement the Muir book. With these two references, available through amazon.com, you have everything you need to perform any and all repairs on your aircooled VW.

An absolute classic!

Written with great thought and plenty of wit, this book sets out to allow any person who so desires to maintain their Volkswagen without needing to have any automotive training or prior knowledge at all.
I purchased it more as a collector piece than anything else, but maybe one day I will use it for more than entertainment value. :)
This is not written for mechanics. It is not anything like a typical shop manual, so if you are going to use it to guide you through a repair, don't expect it to be a quick reference.
Instead, read the section that applies to what you need all the way through prior to even opening your toolbox.
You'll be glad you bought this book if you buy it!

This book is well thinked : you explore all aspects of industrial world with each most important and specific words about them.

12 words by 50 days : 600 words never forgotten because the method is attractive.

I recommend this book for all persons which prepare the TOEIC TEST and who are not really at ease with a large own vocabulary collection.
